Pat Slatton and I wrote one commercial over thirty years ago and then sold it again to the same people a few years ago.  I write music and lyrics and often co-write with friends.  Some of my co-writers are Pat Slatton,  Milton Wooldridge, Charles C. Morrison, Judy Wise, Bill Clark, Duke Martin, and Jack Epperson.

I taught piano for over 40 years and had such a wonderful time with my pupils.  I loved them all and wrote songs about many of them.  I also wrote fun songs they enjoyed.  It thrilled me to see them so happy and hear them laugh.  I have recorded many of the Children’s songs and the Christmas songs.  I wrote a special song for them each Christmas.  Some they liked and some they didn’t.  I recorded the ones they liked.  

Milton Wooldridge is my partner in Jacilyn Music.  He lives in Athens, Al. with his wife Marilyn.  Milton is a talented singer, writer, producer and entertainer.  He entertains on television, radio and personal appearances.  Jacilyn Music has recorded and published many of the songs he has written.   You will find some of his albums on this site.  Close your eyes when you hear his velvet voice and you will think you are listening to Jim Reeves.   I am very lucky to have found Milton and his beautiful wife.  I couldn’t make it without them.  

I started writing before Jacilyn Publishing. Co. Inc.  I wrote a musical with my cousin Mary Jean Parson that contained about 24 songs.  It was produced and played in Yatkensville, North Carolina.  Along this same line I was commissioned to write 4 songs for Birmingham’s Centennial Musical that starred Bert Parks.  He sang and danced to my "Calico Waltz

Some of my accomplishments include:

  1. I have had 3 songs on the Country and Pop national charts.  
  2. I received a BMI Award for the number one song. "Room In Your Heart’ co-written and recorded by Sonny James.  He also recorded my song titled "More Than Ever".  
  3. The Alabama Country Music Association nominated me for writer of the year in 1987.   
  4. In 2001 I won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Gospel Songwriters of Alabama.  
  5. I am a lifetime member of the Country Music Association.  
  6. I have a Certificate of Merit for the top1% from the international song contest sponsored by Billboard and KFC.  
  7. I won first place in a Mississippi song contest sponsored by the Mississippi Poetry Society, Inc.  Won 3rd. Place in the Tennessee Poetry Song Contest in 1002.  
  8. The World of Poetry has recognized me with 39 Awards of Merit. Also the Golden Poet Award for 1986, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91 and 92.  
  9. I was also listed in Who’s Who in Poetry.   

Jacilyn’s Music was on the MP3 site for about four years.  One Christmas season my song "Christmas Time" reached #60 on the chart that listed all the 300,000 songs of different genre.  Now Jacilyn has this site.  Milton and I are both elated.  We have another chance to get our music to people all over the world.
